Bad Conduct or General Discharge? Get the Story Told Right

A Bad Conduct Discharge or a General (Under Honorable Conditions) Discharge can affect your ability to access veteran health and education benefits. You need someone who knows exactly what the Review Boards are looking for.

Elizabeth has successfully challenged numerous discharge characterizations, reenlistment codes, narrative reasons for separation, and other unjust separations. Regulations governing administrative discharges have changed significantly over the last twenty years. You need an attorney who knows the current landscape, not outdated guidance.

What to Expect

The Discharge Upgrade Process

A petition to upgrade your discharge usually starts with your service’s Discharge Review Board. Discharges more than 15 years old and appeals of the Discharge Review Board decisions go to your service’s Board for Correction of Military (or Naval) Records. The board reviews whether your characterization of service, reentry code, or narrative reason for separation was proper given the facts. A successful petition points out errors in the process or shows the discharge to have been unfair instead of just disagreeing with the outcome.
